A collective agreement is a written, binding contract between the Union and the employer, which specifies the terms and conditions of employment. The Manitoba Nurses Union continually strives for better working conditions, wages and benefits by negotiating new collective agreements.
We often receive questions from members as to what Central Table means, here is the answer:
Central Table is defined as the group of Employers represented by the Provincial Health Labour Relations Services (also known as PHLRS) during bargaining with the Manitoba Nurses Union.
This group of Employers includes the following regions: Interlake-Eastern Health Region, Southern Health Region, Winnipeg-Churchill Health Region, Shared Health Region, Prairie Mountain Health Region and Northern Health Region.
MNU members who work at Hospitals, Personal Care Homes, and other health facilities/programs under these Employers are included in Central Table bargaining.
For a full list of the Hospitals, Personal Care Homes, and other health facilities/programs under who are represented at the Central Table, please see this list.
Here's a summary of wages under the Central Table Agreement that Union members ratified on May 17, 2024 (WCHREO, SHREO, PMHREO, NHREO, IEHREO) & July 8, 2024 (SHEO) . It covers the majority of Union members.
This manual is to assist Regional/Worksite Presidents who must interpret and/or apply the Central Table Collective Agreements. The manual is not the “final word” on the subjects it addresses. The Collective Agreement remains the legal binding document, but is subject to interpretation, precedent as a result of grievance resolution or other agreement between Employer and Union (MNU Central) or arbitration ruling. Interpretation may differ from that presented herein, particularly as this is a Collective Agreement with a number of new and/or modified provisions. We have endeavoured to interpret clauses so that they reflect the intent of the language when it was negotiated. Where no interpretation is given, the contract language is self-explanatory. If you are unsure of any answers to your questions, please contact your Labour Relations Officer.
